TREVOR CHISMAN ITEC VTCT MIPTI
Hi, my name is Trevor and welcome to my website, I hope you had a good look around the site before ending up here, if not make sure you do once you've finished on this page.
The site includes lots of information about massage and specific areas of treatment that interest me. Hopefully it will also answer some of your massage related questions. I'm constantly updating and adding to the site so do check back regularly, if you can't find the information you're looking for please do get in touch and I will do my best to answer your questions.
One of the best bits about this job is the great mix of interesting and diverse people I have the opportunity to work with on a daily basis. I continue to work with a wide range of clients, including professional and amateur athletes, dancers, actors, students, office workers and business professionals.
Approach
I don't believe in a 'one size fits all' approach to massage which is why you won't find any set sequences or a menu of specific massage styles to pick from. I'm qualified in many different massage styles and techniques and use these to create a unique integrated massage treatment, each treatment is tailored to your individual needs and requirements that day.
For example, you may want a relaxing massage as you've been under a lot of stress, making a deeply relaxing massage the ultimate goal of the treatment. The treatment itself however may contain some long flowing relaxing strokes combined with some deep muscle work to release any deep seated tensions and also some stretching and rocking type techniques to help the body fully let go. The treatment will be totally individual and will focus more attention on those areas of the body which are holding the most tension and stress, therefore making the treatment more effective overall.
Training
I originally trained in Holistic Massage, Anatomy and Physiology with ITEC at The Beaumont College of Natural Medicine in 1993 becoming a fully qualified body massage therapist.
In 2006, I had the opportunity to train and qualify in Sports Massage Therapy with VTCT at St Mary's University College, Twickenham, a recognised centre of sporting excellence and education.
I've also attended many additional courses and workshops to further my knowledge and skills in specific areas of treatment and have certificates in Deep Tissue Techniques, MET (Muscle Energy Techniques), Soft Tissue Release, Myofascial Release and Trigger Point Therapy.
I'm currently the only therapist in the UK to study Kinetic Sports Massage with Joel Tull, International Sports Massage Therapist working with Professional Athletes around the World.
I hold a current Emergency First Aid certificate issued by St Andrews First Aid and am also a fully qualified "free weights" fitness instructor qualifying with NABBA (National Amateur Body Building Association) in 1990.
Professional membership
I am registered with the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) (Registration 00238-B10). I have been a member of IPTI (Independant Professional Therapists International) (Membership No' 6687) since 1993, in 2009 I also joined SMTO (Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation) (Membership No' 1977) and I'm fully insured to practice massage therapy with Balens Insurance.
